We are proud to have Dr. Ashley Risner as part of our staff. Dr. Risner is East Texas' only residency trained low vision specialist. She will work with you and your family to help maintain quality of life and independence. This process begins with a low vision evaluation.

A low vision evaluation is designed to aid in the rehabilitation of those with permanent vision loss due to disease, injury, or genetics. We work to maximize remaining vision with the use of low vision devices and/or vision training.

Dr. Risner may prescribe a range of optical devices. Low vision devices include: non-conventional spectacles, magnifiers, telescopes, microscopes, and video equipment. After a successful low vision evaluation, the doctor will make recommendations as to which devices, if any, could benefit the patient. In addition, we will direct those with vision loss to the appropriate national, state, and local support service organizations.
